For Parents

Community Partnership for Child Development knows that early childhood outcomes and school readiness are directly linked to family involvement.  Programs are designed to support parents in their role as their child's first and best teacher and to encourage parents to be true partners in the agency.

CPCD family programs include participation in home visitations, crisis intervention, emergency assistance, community resource referrals, mental health support classes, workshops and trainings on topics of identified interest and parent leadership opportunities.  Parents can join CPCD in the following:

Volunteering - Parents become active members of their child's teaching team.  9 out of 10 parents and parent-figures volunteer in the classroom.

Workshops and Training - CPCD offers workshops on parenting, nutrition, relationships, activities to do at home and various child development issues.

Parent Leadership - CPCD's shared governance allows parents to have a unique opportunity to champion their family's needs while developing leadership and advocacy skills.

Male Involvement - CPCD's programs support fathers and father-figures who parent in fulfilling their role as one of their child's primary educators.

Family Literacy - Programs are designed to meet the needs of the parents as their children participate in a classroom.  Parents can attend GED preparation, English aquisition courses and many trainings and workshops on continuing education.

Looking To The Future

Looking To The Future

Just 18-months-old, Malena can already count to five, and her speech and motor skills continue to develop rapidly. Her mother, Crystal, is very proud and credits both herself and Early Head Start (EHS) for her daughter’s progress.  “Early Head Start is helping Malena learn because the daily activities are age appropriate and the staff really pay attention to her individual needs,” Crystal says.
